Uğurcan is a doctoral candidate and research associate at the Institute for Interactive Marketing & Social Media (IMSM), Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU).

He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering with majors in Statistics and Optimization, already gathered four years of academic work experience as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Istanbul Kültür University. His former research activities were based on data mining, optimization and Industry 4.0. His master thesis was on location and routing problem of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).

In April 2020, he then decided to make a career change and joined the Institute for Interactive Marketing & Social Media, where his research now focuses on optimization application in real-time bidding.
