Entry to the Specialization

Der Inhalt dieser Seite ist aktuell nur auf Englisch verfügbar.

Every semester a selection process is taking place in order to find the most suitable candidates for the specialization.

Who are we looking for?

IB students should have an excellent academic background, show international curiosity and are cross-functionally interested.

Key facts

  • Selection based on average of the best 27 ECTS (Notenkriterium - 50%) & entry exam (40-minute multiple choice test – 50%)

  • SBWL starts every semester (February and September)

  • 140 – 160 students accepted per semester

Which grade point average is required to be accepted to the specialization?

Each student* needs to take the entry exam which together with the grade point average determines the ranking. Nobody will automatically be accepted because of good grades, as it is the case with some other specializations. The grade point average makes up 50% of the ranking of applicants, the entry exam makes up the other 50%. For this reason, we cannot state any possible cut-off criteria. For example, applicants with excellent entry-exam results but mediocre grade point averages may be accepted and vice versa. However, our accumulated experience from the last semesters shows that if your grade average of the best 27 ECTS ("Notenkriterium") amounts to more than 2.0 you need to have an outstanding score on the entry test in order to make it among the best students.

Can the 27ECTS also be obtained through electives?

Yes, but only through electives in your study program, not through "free electives".

I am missing out on one course for fulfilling the admission criteria. For this reason, I cannot register for the entry exam. I will be taking the missing exam soon after the IB entry test. Is it possible to make an exception in this case?

This is not possible. You can only take the entry exam if you are registered.

Is it possible for "Mitbeleger" to apply?

Applications for the specialization International Business are open to WU students doing the majors Business, Economics and Social Sciences; Business and Economics as well as Business Law. Students who are registered as "Mitbeleger" at WU cannot apply for the specialization.

I have attended courses abroad which have not yet been transferred to WU. Will you consider these courses?

This is not possible. Only credits which have already been transferred to WU can be considered for calculating the grade point average. All information for the Credit Transfer can be found here.
