Evaluation of Russian learners’ oral presentations by native speakers

Abstract

The examination should look into the question of the weight of different types of errors in oral presentations. Another goal is to examine the pragmatic adequacy of presentations in the target culture. To this end, Russian native speakers (students and teachers) are faced with Russian presentations on the events linked to Business Communication II and Business Communication III courses. They rate the video recordings by a complex set of criteria which besides linguistic criteria also includes specific text types and pragmatic evaluation features. The pilot phase of the study was completed in March 2008.
