For the first time, the sportsbusiness.at Breakfast Club took place at WU Vienna – exploring how science can drive success in sports.

For the first time, the sportsbusiness.at Breakfast Club took place at WU Vienna, bringing together experts and enthusiasts to explore the powerful connection between sports and science. Hosted in cooperation with The Research Initiative Sports and Management (RISM), the 12th edition of this exclusive networking event highlighted how academic insights can drive success in the world of sports.

Among the panelists were Carina Wenninger, former professional footballer and current manager in women’s football (ÖFB), Ana Dijakovic, strategy consultant at McKinsey and former RISM doctoral researcher, and Valentin Bauer, CEO of the sports tech platform fan.at. They were joined by Kurz Matzler, professor at the University of Innsbruck with a focus on leadership and endurance sports, and Jürgen Scharhag, head of the Austrian Institute of Sports Medicine and expert in sports physiology.

Together, they discussed how data, science, and innovation are transforming not only elite sports but also grassroots and recreational levels — offering new perspectives on training, performance, health, and the future of sport.
