Katrin Hummel is Professor of Accounting & Reporting at the WU since 2021. She obtained her doctoral degree in Business Administration with distinction from the University of Stuttgart and continued her postdoctoral studies at the University of Zurich. At the same time, she was lecturer at the University of Basel and Visiting Professor at the Department of Finance, Accounting and Statistics of the WU. Katrin Hummel’s research focuses on the intersection of accounting and sustainability with a particular focus on sustainability reporting and the measurement of sustainability performance. For this purpose, she applies innovative research methods, such as computer-assisted textual analysis. Her research is published in impactful and widely recognized international journals, such as the European Accounting Review, Accounting and Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy.

Katrin Hummel is member of the editorial board of the journal Accounting Forum, member of the working group on sustainability reporting at the Austrian Financial Reporting and Advisory Committee (AFRAC), member of the jury for the Austrian Sustainability Reporting Award (ASRA) and member of the scientific committee of the Institute of Austrian Auditors (iwp).
