The Institute for Organization Studies co-organized EGOS 2022 in Vienna

11/07/2022

Highlighting the 'beauty of imperfection' inherent in any form of organizing, this year’s 38th EGOS Colloquium took place on the campus of WU Vienna from July 7-9, 2022. The unprecedented design of the Colloquium – prioritizing the return to an onsite format after two years of online Colloquia but also including seven hybrid sub-themes and a variety of streamed sessions and events – attracted over 1900 onsite participants from all over Europe and around the world as well as around 100 online participants. For close to a week, WU Vienna became the vibrant center of global organizational research.

Several members of the Institute for Organization Studies had leading roles in the organization of the Colloquium. Dennis Jancsary co-chaired the Local Organizing Team with Mia Raynard from the Institute of Change Management and Management Development, while Renate Meyer and Markus Höllerer served in the Scientific Committee. All members of our faculty supported the organizing team in various areas and tasks that ranged from managing Social Media to issues of Hospitality, IT and Operations. Together, it was our pleasure to offer a warm welcome to WU Vienna for all participants and to celebrate the success of the Colloquium at the official EGOS Dinner and Party at the unique location of the Rathaus (the Vienna City Hall).

In addition to their organizational support, most faculty members also contributed to the scientific program in various capacities, for instance by facilitating roundtables in the pre-Colloquium, presenting and discussing academic papers in various sub-themes, chairing several Meet-the-Editors panels, and/or acting as moderators and panelists in sub-plenary sessions (most notably sub-plenary 1-4 on New Directions for Scholarly Impact).
