New publication on "Reconceptualizing Conceptual Engineering"

01/07/2021

Elena Bruni, together with Cliff Oswick, Claudio Biscaro, and Joep Cornelissen, has published a Dialogue piece in The Academy of Management Review.

The piece is a reflection on a paper published by Makowski (2021), in which he introduces 'conceptual engineering' (CE) as a tool to optimize concepts within the field of management. The authors contest the idea of the possibility of 'engineering', especially in a multivocal and multidisciplinary discipline such as management. In this light, they advance the idea that a ‘conceptual cartography’ metaphor better describes the effort of theorizing; situating theories and concepts within a broader landscape.
