Position at IIB, other positions and academic career

Jan Hendrik Fisch is a Professor of International Business at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien), Vienna/Austria. He holds a PhD in Economics from University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart/Germany, and a degree in Electronics and Business from Technical University of Darmstadt, Darmstadt/Germany.

Before joining WU in 2013, he was a Professor of Innovation and International Management at University of Augsburg, Augsburg/Germany, Professor of Technology and Innovation Management at Zeppelin University, Friedrichshafen/Germany, and Assistant Professor at University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart/Germany. He declined an appointment as a Professor of Innovation Management at University of Duisburg-Essen, Duisburg/Germany. From 2012 to 2017, he was a Conjoint Professor at University of Newcastle, Callaghan/Australia. From 2018 to 2021, he was a Research Fellow at University of Waikato, Hamilton/New Zealand.

At WU, he used to be Academic Director of the study program Master in International Management/CEMS and is now Head of the Department of Global Business and Trade.

Research interest

His research centers on Strategy and Organization in the fields of Innovation Management and International Business. Publications include articles in Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Research Policy, and Strategic Management Journal.
