Strategic decision preparation capabilities of corporate managers: causes, effect and the role of AI

04/05/2023

At the paper development workshop “Advancing an Interdisciplinary Perspective in IB and Strategy”, hosted by LUISS Business School in collaboration with WU Vienna Institute for International Business, Martin Sehner, has presented the HiA research team’s current work on this topic.

In large organizations, solving highly complex problems often requires the expertise of middle managers. Senior managers delegate the task of problem-solving to middle managers, who then report back with their proposed solutions. While senior and middle manager involvement is necessary, it can lead to delays in decision-making and biases in the evaluation and selection process by senior managers. This can be frustrating for both parties involved, as it often results in additional rounds of discussion and wasted time.

At the paper development workshop “Advancing an Interdisciplinary Perspective in IB and Strategy”, hosted by LUISS Business School in collaboration with WU Vienna Institute for International Business, Martin Sehner, has presented the HiA research team’s current work on this topic. In their study “Strategic decision preparation capabilities of corporate managers: causes, effect and the role of AI”, Jelena Cerar, Martin Sehner, and Phillip C. Nell, explore how middle managers prepare decisions and involve AI to accelerate the decision-making of senior managers. We are thankful to eXplore! for supporting our work and helping us advance the research in this field.
