New Teaching Case Study on Regional Headquarters Structure of Robert Bosch Power Tools in Eastern Europe and Middle East

How can multinational corporations best steer such highly diverse regions like Eastern Europe and the Middle East and which organizational setup best allows the regional headquarters (RHQ) to add value to its country subsidiaries? The RHQ for Eastern Europe and Middle East of Robert Bosch Power Tools recently faced those complex questions and engaged in a major organizational transformation.

Our colleagues Jan Schmitt and Phillip C. Nell received the opportunity to talk with the team of Robert Bosch Power Tools in Eastern Europe and Middle East about their experiences in this strategic endeavor and collected their insights in a new case study available via Ivey Publishing.

The case investigates the role and functioning of RHQs in multinational corporations and focuses on RHQs’ potential challenges when managing their geographically dispersed subsidiaries. By solving this case study, students will be able to (i) develop suggestions for how to steer multinationals’ regional operations, (ii) identify and evaluate the key drivers of a location choice, and (iii) analyze the dynamics and complexity of managing business units in emerging markets.
