Introductions of the new PhD colleagues at our Institute

07. April 2026
  • Val Vovk Petrovski is a pre-doctoral researcher interested in the strategic use of humorous communicative forms. At the moment, he focuses on how sport organizations engage in the production of humorous social media content to promote sponsorships with gambling operators. More broadly, his research examines how humour is materialized in the weaponization of online narratives and the role of internet memes in advancing the strategic goals of organizations operating in highly visible contexts such as the sports and entertainment sectors. Outside of academia, he is a passionate follower of the sport of cycling, albeit from the comfort of his sofa.

  • Zenon Hanappi: “Hi everyone, I’m Zenon, one of the new Pre-Docs at the Institute for Strategic Organizational Communication. I work on sustainability communication in sports, and the arts, exploring how communication shapes agency and social change. I’m really happy to be here and looking forward to exchanging ideas, whether over research or a coffee.“

  • Muhammad Lauda (Lauda) joined the Institute of SOC in the beginning of Summer Semester 2026, starting his PhD position in sustainable communication, focusing on circular economy issues. Lauda has an academic background in bioenergy engineering and business administration, but career background in public relations consultancy for national and international organizations. His interests lie in community-based sustainability initiatives, climate change communication, and corporate communication. Lauda is looking to expand his academic network and German skills, so do not hesitate to knock on his office door for a quick chat!

  • Lukni Burhanuddin Ahmad is a strategic communication researcher with experience in marketing and communication research, focusing on integrated strategic communication (internal and external organizations). Currently, his work sits at the cutting edge of digital transformation, specifically investigating Artificial Intelligence-mediated storytelling. He explores how AI tools reshape the way organizations create, deliver, and measure narratives, ensuring that technological integration enhances rather than replaces authentic human connection.
