In a recent op-ed published in Der Standard, WU researchers Judith Kohlenberger and Mehmet Ali Icbay argue that Austria should move beyond seeing migration as a problem of control and instead recognize the societal and economic potential of qualified immigration. Drawing on research and policy analysis, they show that better institutional conditions for highly skilled migrants would not only ease integration pressures but also strengthen Austria’s future competitiveness and social cohesion.
