Verena Bandstetter has been awarded the Stephan Koren prize for dissertation.

24. November 2025

The Stephan Koren Prize was first awarded by the Association of Professors at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business in 1996 and has been presented annually ever since. The aim of the prize is to publicly promote early-stage researchers. It is awarded to doctoral students who contribute to the excellent research reputation of WU through their outstanding work.

Once again, there were a large number of very good applications this year. From these, the jury, composed of professors from WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, selected seven theses for the Stephan Koren Prize.

This year's award ceremony took place on November 11, 2025, during the graduation ceremony in the Ceremonial Hall. Prof. Anne d'Arcy, chair of the Association of Professors, presented the Stephan Koren Prize certificates.

Verena Brandstetter from the Institute for Statistics and Mathematics has been awarded for her work "Deep neural network methods for partial integro-differential equations with applications in finance, insurance and economics".
