Dr. Lukas Maier is currently visiting Columbia Business School in New York (US). Established in 1916, Columbia Business School is one of six Ivy League business schools and one of the oldest and most esteemed business schools in the world.

During the research stay, Lukas is closely working with his host, Professor Gita Johar, on “Better Marketing for a Better World” topics. Among others, they are investigating how consumers behave in the resale economy. In one project, they take a novel perspective and focus on consumers as sellers of secondhand items (in contrast to existing consumer research which has primarily focused on consumers as buyers of secondhand items). Specifically, they are examining how to effectively encourage consumers to resell their used items.

Besides doing research, Lukas is enjoying the academic exchange with Columbia Business School faculty and PhD students. Recently, Lukas also participated in the Marketing Department’s Marketing Camp at the scenic Mohonk Mountain House (see pictures).
