Martin joined the Institute for International Business as a Research and Teaching Associate (PhD Candidate) in November 2021. He holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Economics, both from the University of Innsbruck. Research interest

Martin's research in behavioral strategy explores the managerial aspects of solving strategic problems in large organizations. His research aims to understand the intricate stages of the problem-solving process, including early activities related to framing and formulating complex and ill-structured problems. His work recognizes the critical role of creativity in developing effective solutions and explores how coordination across various hierarchical levels can significantly enhance problem-solving efforts. His research also draws on insights from middle management and issue-selling literature to enhance the understanding of effective managerial communication

Furthermore, Martin has developed a keen interest in how digitalization and artificial intelligence are reshaping organizational structures, improving worker collaboration, and optimizing the use of digital tools by managers. He pays particular attention to AI's capacity to transform problem framing, solution generation, and knowledge transfer within organizations. Drawing on his previous skillset as a Market & Consumer Intelligence Analyst, Martin builds on this experience and employs a range of research methods, including experiments, secondary data analysis, surveys, bibliometric analysis, and case studies. Martin is actively engaged in the Headquarters in Austria research initiative, where he strives to contribute significantly to both academic and practical discourse, enhancing the understanding of strategic problem-solving in modern business environments.
