FAQs for the German-taught master’s programs

Q: Are all programs starting in the wintersemster or some also in the summersemester?

A: All programs start in the wintersemester except WiRe.

Q: Is it possible to take a vacation semester for a internship?

A: No, this is not possible.

Q: Is there a "first come first serve" principle?

A: No, there is not. All applicants, that meet the requirements, can apply.

Q: Are the bachelor grades important for the application/assesmentphase?

A: No, only the applicationrequirements according to the curricilum have to be met.

Q: Are the courses online or in presence?

A: They are genrally in presence, online is the exception.

Q: Can you apply before finishing your bachelors degree?

A: Yes, you can apply as soon as you have 150 ECTS. The remaining 30 ECTS have to be finished before the admissin deadline.

Q: Can you apply for more than one masterprogram?

A: Yes. If you would like to check whether you are admitted to both, please let the admissions office know.

Q: Is there a difference between WU alumni and those of other universities regarding the assesmentphase?

A: No, all applicants are treated equally, no matter if they come from a University or FH, austria or other countries.

Q: What happens if you do not finish the bachelors degree until the master starts?
A: You will not get admitted. The bachelor has to be finished before the admission.

Q: Do you need to make preferences if you apply for a german and englisch masterprogram?
A: No, because the german and english masterprograms have different application deadlines.

FAQs for the English-taught master’s programs

Q: Do you have the same chances to get admitted if you apply in february rather than november?

A: Yes, you have the same chances.

Q: How much time do you have to accept an offer of th program?

A: You have to accept within 10 days, otherwise it will be withdrawn.

Q: Do you have to pay tuition fees during a semester abroad?

A: Yes, but only the tuition fee at WU Vienna.

Q: How do the preferences work?
A: You have the possibility to apply for more than one masterprogram and choose preferences. If you get admitted to preference 1, you can only choose this program.

Q: Is it possible to apply again at a later deadline if you get rejected at a previous one?
A: Last year it was possible to aplly again at the third deadline.

Q: Is a GPA enough for WU alumni?
A: Yes, you can upload your GPA, if it is good, instead of a GMAT (only for SIMC, CEMS and Marketing).

Q: Is a TOEFL exam accepted if it is older than 2 years?
A: No, TOEFL exams are only valid for 2 years after the exam date.

Q: Do you need the GMAT result until 08.01 (first deadline) or do you have to take the exam until then?
A: You need the result until the relevant deadline, because it is part of your application. Later uploaded results will not be taken into account.
