Visit to Henkel GBS+ in Bratislava, 26.5.

17/05/2023

The CEE CercleWU would like to invite you to a visit to Global Business Solutions (GBS+) of Henkel Group in Bratislava on Friday, May 26. The aim of the visit is to learn more about the activities such a shared service center (SSC) performs in a multinational group and how its portfolio of tasks and competences transformed over the years.

The bus trip will be free. We will visit GBS+ Bratislava in the morning and around midday go to the Old Town where you have about three hours for lunch and for enjoying the city. We will return at 15:30 to Vienna (expected arrival at 17:00).

The agenda at GBS+ is as follows (9:15-12:30):

  • GBS+ Introduction: Global concept + GBS+ Bratislava

  • Presentation of two business processes: Supply Chain + Controlling

GBS+ is a success story of the Henkel Group in CEE. They started in 2006 with 20 employees providing transactional financial services only and grew to 1,800 employees today covering about 14 processes. Formerly called a shared service center they now provide comprehensive expert solutions and established Centers of Excellence for specific value chain activities.

The wave of business process outsourcing (BPO) and the establishment of shared service centers began in the 2000s and gained speed after the global financial crisis when cost cutting climbed to the top of the management agenda. University towns from Cracow, Budapest, Bratislava to Sofia became a magnet for BPO and more than half a million jobs were created in Central and South Eastern Europe. Over the years many of them transformed into expert centers. The visit will allow insights into the functioning of a modern SSC.
