Research Institute for Regulatory Economics

The Research Institute for Regulatory Economics is a think tank founded in 2005 with the medium-term goal of building up knowledge on the interplay between competition and the need to regulate. During the period 2005 - 2008 research by the faculty and graduate students focused mainly on network-based energy supplying industries.

Since 2009 the focus of the research institute has been extended, most notably with regard to electronic communications markets. Additionally, in the future we intend to expand our focus by including the regulation of postal service and railways.

Academic Researchers with a national and international background work together in an interdisciplinary approach to achieve progress in the fields of efficiency measurement in regulated industries, effectiveness of regulation and the relationship between regulation and innovation. We explicitly aspire to be a productive knowledge exchange with practitioners profiting both from their knowledge and giving advice.
