CEMS meets BCG: Excel Training

15. Mai 2017

On the 12th of May, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) invited a motivated group of CEMS Students to their Vienna Office in the city center.

The event consisted of different parts: First a brief company presentation and Q&A session, subsequently an extensive Excel workshop led by experienced BCG Consultants and lastly a great dinner at Salonplafond restaurant.

The students teamed up with several Consultants and Managers of the company, who presented them the career opportunities at BCG and entry possibilities into the Consulting world after finishing the CEMS Master program. They also collected questions from the students of any kind (‘weirdest task a client wanted you to do’ / ‘why working at BCG is the best’ / etc.) and answered them in an honest and entertaining way.

The group them moved on to the Excel workshop, led by two BCG Excel experts. Working on a specific case study with raw data and lots of information, valuable shortcuts and keyboard combinations were introduced. The students gained many insights into the way the leading strategy consultancy uses Excel and how data is analyzed and presented to clients.

The subsequent dinner and drinks were the perfect opportunity to ask all the remaining open questions the students had and to get to know BCG employees on a more personal level. The CEMS Club Vienna would like to thank BCG for the interesting workshop and is already looking forward to the next event.
