On 11 November 2025, LawGov’s Stefan Mayr spoke upon invitation of the Wirtschaftspolitische Akademie on current challenges and developments in EU trade law and policy, in light of the ongoing crisis of multilateralism. In his talk, Stefan addressed the current state of the WTO, the new generation of EU trade agreements, as well as the increasing focus on economic security and unilateral measures aiming to strengthen the EU’s open strategic autonomy. The talk was followed by a lively debate that touched on a variety of issues, including recent disruptions at the level of global trade governance as well as the EU’s promotion of an investment court system for investor-state arbitration.
