The Preparation Program is designed for students in their first semester and consists of courses preparing for the Certificate of General Educational Development examination and the so-called "Bridging Courses" which help to make good deficiencies in school education.

Many beginner's courses at WU require previous knowledge which should have been acquired at school ("Maturaniveau"). In order to enable students to catch up on things missed and make good deficiencies, the WU offers Bridging Courses in typical "problem areas". The courses often take place during the summer holidays and are intended to prepare students for their studies at WU.
