This can be a further deep dive into the course topics or something new, such as an interesting application domain (care, education, defense) or a specific type of AI system, or a specific core value, the implications on which
  you want to investigate.

Session 8 - 25.06.2024

- exam

Lernergebnisse (Learning Outcomes):

Students will get an overview of essential core values that are politically and legally significant when assessing the impacts of AI systems.
We will discuss how the specificities of Artificial Intelligence Systems and their design poses unique challenges and how these challenges can be addressed with legal and design measures.

The course is designed to provide a broad and up-to-date and overview of modern AI systems and their implications on individual and societaly levels.
Scientific research articles are coupled with current media discourse and normative approaches, which allows for a holistic understanding of relevant dynamics.

Regelung zur Anwesenheit:

80% presence is required to pass the course

Lehr-/Lerndesign:

Interesting presentations, lively discussions and state-of-the-art research articles.

Leistung(en) für eine Beurteilung:

Sessions 2-8 start with a minitest containing 10 mutliple-choice and open questions.
Individual grade, 50%

Session 2-7 will each have two student presentations in groups of two, where one student presents (~15 minutes presentation) and the other one takes questions from the group (~ 10 minutes Q&A session).
Session 8 will have three final student presentations (~15 minutes presentation, both group members present and take questions)
Group grade, 40%

Each student is invited to ask questions on the group presentation. The questions will be part of the individual grade. Here not only the quantity of questions counts but also the quality.
Individual grade, 10%.

In summary, the course will be graded as follows:

50%  - individual minitests
