Inhalte der LV:

This course will mainly focus on:

  • digitalization and organizational behavior: virtual teams, leadership and conflict management
  • managing employees in distant virtual contexts (HRM implications)
  • novel forms of digital organizing
  • organizing the platform: roles, specialization and coordination
  • organizing the digital democracy: e-Governance and transparency
  • the dark side of digitalization: environmental and social unsustainable practices
  • the organizational limits of Industry 4.0
Lernergebnisse (Learning Outcomes):

After completing the course, students have a deeper and critically reflected understanding of leadership, management and organisational processes - as well as their limits - in the field of digital transformation in various economic sectors. Students can independently apply theoretical concepts and acquired methods to novel and complex situations in these areas.

Regelung zur Anwesenheit:

For a positive completion of the course, 80% attendance during the synchronously held parts of the course is required.

If there is an important reason for absence from the course, a maximum of 20% of the total course hours that are delivered in the sychronous format can be missed. In the case of an absence larger than 20%, the course must be repeated. Evidence of the absence (e.g. medical certificate) must be submitted.

According to the examination regulations of WU, important reasons are all those that are beyond the disposition of the student (such as illness, accident, death of a close relative). Professional obligations are not considered an important reason in the sense of the examination regulations, as these are at students' discretion.

Lehr-/Lerndesign:

The course is divided into two phases:

  • In the first phase, central concepts will be introduced, relating to leadership, management and organisational processes - as well as their limits - in the area of digital transformation in various economic sectors.
  • In the second phase, the acquired scientific basics are applied in the context of a contemporary business case study.

Different forms of teaching and learning are combined to achieve the learning outcomes, such as lecture input by the course instructor, independent literature study, plenary discussion, group work in student teams.
