  • Enterprise applications - ERP, Supply Chain Management Software, CRM software 
  • Common roles in the IT department I.: The IT Analyst - Development process models, requirement engineering
  • Common roles in the IT department II: The Test Manager - Test cycles, functional and non-functional test methods 
  • IT Security - Threats, tools, management and financial aspect of security
  • Social issues of Information systems - Ethical and moral dimensions of IS
  • The Hype cycle

Lernergebnisse (Learning Outcomes):

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  • Understand what an information system is and how it can help organizations 
  • Understand the interaction effects of information systems and organizations
  • Understand the basics of the most important hardware, software and operating systems used in a business context
  • Understand the concepts of the software life cycle and the associated quality assurance
  • Know the fundamentals of computer networks including the Internet
  • Know the positive and negative effects of Information systems on the society  
  • Know the common IT threats and about protective measures
  • Know current trends of IT with the help of Gartner's Hype cycle
Regelung zur Anwesenheit:

Blended format:

80 % of participation is required (at least 4 out of 5 lectures). Participation is necessary at the first lecture to secure your spot.

 

 

Lehr-/Lerndesign:

The course is presented in a blended format with both in-class and online lectures.

 

In-class: 

Lectures in lecture halls, video cases, written case studies, student group presentations in lecture halls.

 

Online lectures:

Lectures as conference calls, online video cases, preparing presentations as homework, online presentations in groups in conference calls

 

 

Leistung(en) für eine Beurteilung:

Blended format:

2 closed book assignments during in-class lectures (2x15 points)

2 video summaries of topics (2x15 points)

Group presentation (20 points)

Bonus points can be achieved with active participation at Lecture 5. 

70-80: 1, 60-69: 2, 50-59: 3, 40-49: 4,  0-39: 5

Teilnahmevoraussetzung(en):

This course is part of the SBWL Information Management and Control.

Students need to first enroll into this SBWL successfully and then into this course.
