Lernergebnisse (Learning Outcomes):

At the end of the course students will be able to

  • Define the goals of corporate finance
  • Differentiate between equity and debt financing and know about the various forms of financing including their advantages and drawbacks
  • Describe the relationship of risk and return in the Capital Asset Pricing Model
  • Evaluate investment projects and take investment decisions


Regelung zur Anwesenheit:

You have to be present at:

  • Presentation of case studies (unit 7)
  • Final Exam

Besides that, you are allowed to miss a maximum of 2 units (not the ones mentioned above!)

Classes start and finish on time – make sure you are present on time!

Lehr-/Lerndesign:

The course is taught using a combination of lectures, case studies, exercises and class discussions. The lectures communicate the basic terms and concepts. In case studies and exercises the theory provided is applied and discussed with the students.

Leistung(en) für eine Beurteilung:

The course will be graded based on three parts:

  • Calculation exercises with help of spreadsheets (15 %)
  • Analysis and preparation of case studies (20 %)
  • Final exam. (65 %)

The final exam includes multiple choice questions as well as exercises. For the successful completion of the course, students have to achieve at least 61 out of 100 total points.

Grading scale:
5 - fail: 0-60%
4 - sufficient: 61-70%
3 - satisfactory: 71-80%
2 - good: 81-90%
1 - excellent: 91-100%
