Biographical Sketch

Sebastian Vith is Research Associate at the Research Institute for Urban Management and Governance at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. He holds degrees in Business Administration (BA, 2009), Social and Political Theory (MA, 2012) and Organization Studies (MSc, 2013). He received an executive certificate in Innovation, Product & Process Management in 2014. Currently, he is writing his doctoral dissertation on the sharing economy from a governance perspective.

From spring 2016 until fall 2019, Sebastian Vith was Teaching and Research Associate at the Institute for Public Management and Governance, WU Vienna. Before, he gained insights into various private and public sector organizations. First as a consultant and trainer for innovation management and later on as an expert for new business development at a publicly owned energy supplier. Besides this, he was lecturer at the Department of Organization and Learning at the University of Innsbruck.

Sebastian Vith is member of the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) and the Austrian Sociological Association (OeGS).

Research Interests

Sebastian Vith’s research interests are centered on forms of organizing and governance – both in the public and private sector. He conducts research on governance challenges of cities and the strategies of governing authorities to address contested issues. Empirically, he is investigating the collaborative or so called sharing economy. In addition, he is engaged in research on urban space as well as organization-environment relationships.
