2022 witnessed considerable new challenging developments to transfer pricing topics around the world.

The aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic confirmed new remote work arrangements as a reality for many employees, increasing the need to reassess the functional profile of group companies. Additionally, significant and disruptive progress was made in respect of the OECD Two-Pillar Solution to address the tax challenges arising from the digitalization of the economy. Meanwhile, the relevance of using Big Data remains a concern to address both at the policy level and in practice. Furthermore, crypto-assets are increasingly used around the world, generating new challenges to traditional transfer pricing analyses. Another issue for transfer pricing practitioners relates to the remarkable soaring inflation in many countries in recent times. Finally, environmental taxation issues remain very high on the agenda of taxpayers and tax administrations, while its implications for MNEs’ intra-group transactions are still wildly unexplored.

These developments, along with many other relevant issues, will be discussed and debated at the 2023 WU Global Transfer Pricing Conference with around 40 worldwide leading transfer pricing experts from academia, international organisations, the business community, government and advisory firms.
