At the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, she is dedicated to fostering the empowerment of women and youth by encouraging them to take on a global citizen mindset and to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Workshops

10:00-11:00 - Begrüßung/Welcome

11:00-12:45 - Morning Workshops
  • Ausgebucht / fully booked - Workshop 1: Rethink Economic Thinking (in English)
Organized by: ÖH WU, oikos Vienna and ÖSSFO (Clubraum)
Even though climate change and environmental disasters are on the rise, the global economic players remain largely reluctant about changing their behavior. Overfishing and deforestation continue at an alarming rate, and global CO2 emissions are as high as ever. Why is it so hard to change this? In this Workshop, you will participate in a simulation where you will learn about major problems of our economic system and no less importantly, about possible solutions and alternatives.

  • Workshop 2: Nachhaltige Karrierewege (in German)
Organisiert von: ÖH WU (Festsaal 1)
    Seat limitation: 70

Hast du dich schon einmal gefragt, was nachhaltige Unternehmen anders machen?

    Gastvortragende:
    Manuela Raidl-Zeller, Geschäftsführerin von Sonnentor

    Max Hollweg, Salesbeauftragter bei NGOjobs.eu

  • Workshop 3: Green Buddies & Green Campus Management (in German)
Organisiert von: Umweltmanagement WU und STaR
    (Galerie)
    Seat limitation: 40

  •

13:00-14:00 - Mittagspause/Lunch Break
14:00-15:45 - Afternoon Workshops:
  • Workshop 4: Learning across borders - Universities, Fit for Future? (in English)
Organized by: oikos Vienna (Festsaal 1)
    Seat limitation: 45
Are our universities still up-to-date? Or are they long over-due for a change of attitude towards nature and the modern day society? Discuss with experts and great minds from the field of education what it takes to think globally, act responsibly, and how to convey this knowledge to educate future global citizens.

  • Workshop 5: Nachhaltiger lernen mit Learning Ergonomics (in German)
Organisiert von: Learning Ergonomics WU (Clubraum)
    Seat limitation: 45
Was beeinflusst mein Lernen?

  • Ausgebucht / fully booked - Workshop 6: From Consumption to Active Citizenship – a Challenge for Individuals and Society (in English)
    Organized by: RCE Vienna (Galerie)
It is undeniable that we live in a highly consumerist society: each and every one of us consumes every single day, sometimes led by conscious decisions and sometimes by affection. In this workshop, we will reflect on our daily consumer choices as individuals and, more importantly, on ways of transforming consumption into active citizenship. Using the RCE Vienna guiding concept of Transformative Learning, as well as workshop participants’ own know-how and experience, we will look into the actual impact of consumer choices, covering topics like sustainable start-ups, labels, greenwashing, and the role of CSR and of consumer education in making the transformation happen.
