Workshop "Success factors for outsourcing logistics in disaster relief"

The workshop is organized by the Research Institute for Supply Chain Management. It is funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF (Project Number: P26015-G11).

Objective

Between December 2017 and March 2018 two online surveys regarding "Success factors for outsourcing logistics in disaster relief" have been conducted with 32 practitioners from humanitarian organizations. Based on these surveys, twelve best practices for outsourcing logistics by humanitarian organizations have been developed and important future developments in the sector have been identified. The workshop brings together experts from humanitarian organizations and logistics service providers in order to discuss the results, exchange experiences and investigate options for closer collaboration.

How to get there

From the airport

If you arrive from Vienna Airport, there are two options:

  1. There is a hourly bus service (VAL 3) directly from the airport to station "Krieau", close by the venue of the workshop. For more information and the time table see Vienna Airport Lines. At station "Krieau", take the exit "Krieau". The building D5 (workshop venue) is within 10 minutes of walking distance.

  2. You can also take the commuter Train Line S7 with destination “Floridsdorf” until station “Praterstern”. There you can switch to Subway Line U2, direction “Seestadt”, and head to Station "Messe-Prater". At the subway station Messe-Prater, take the exit "Messe". The building D5 (workshop venue) is within 5 minutes of walking distance.

Arrival by car

The Campus is located at Welthandelsplatz 1, 1020 Vienna. The underground parking garage is located under the main boulevard running through the Campus. The entrance to the garage is on Trabrennstrasse. The garage has 180 places, there are four exits to the campus from the garage. All exits lead to the outside, so that visitors can enter all campus buildings from their main entrances on the ground floor.

Arrival by bicycle

For safety reasons, cycling is prohibited on Campus grounds. Approximately 1,000 bicycle parking places are located along the bike path circling the perimeter of the campus. There is also a Citybike-station opposite of the Library and Learning Center.
