Your responsibilities
The successful candidate will join the faculty of the Department of Economics. The Department offers an active and internationally oriented research environment. You are expected to provide a good fit to the Department’s current research environment, as well as to cultivate excellence and contribute to the research, teaching, and service activities in the department.

Your profile
The successful candidate's research focus should be on economic theory and information economics. Applications from candidates with expert knowledge of theoretical behavioural economic models are very welcome.

Applicants should have
- a solid academic qualification (PhD or equivalent) in Economics (or a related field)
- high-quality research output (as measured by publications in international peer-reviewed journals) related to the field of economic theory and information economics
- teaching experience in advanced microeconomics and economics of information
- experience in the acquisition of third-party funded projects is of advantage and
- ability to enlarge and deepen the network of contacts to the international academic community.

Your responsibilities
For firms with international operations, the digitization of the economy involves a massive increase in the information incorporated in cross-border transactions. On the one hand, digitization offers enormous potential for informing managerial decision-making to approach and serve foreign markets (e.g. by using digital platform-based business models), to manage foreign subsidiaries, or to govern and optimize cross-border flows of capital, products, and knowledge (e.g. by applying AI/ machine learning).
On the other hand, digitization comes with significant challenges including the acquisition of analytical capabilities to make effective use of large amounts of information. The opportunities and challenges of digitization open up an exciting field of research in the domain of International Business.

The tenure track position “International Business Analytics” is dedicated to exploring and shaping this field of research. It aims at elucidating questions of the impact of digitization on the strategy and structure of internationalizing or internationally operating firms (MNCs).

The position is formally allocated to the academic unit of Prof. Dr. Phillip Nell.

Your profile
The successful applicant
- has a PhD (or equivalent) in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathe-matics, or related fields
- must either have completed their PhD or doctoral program outside of Austria or must have completed at least one year of documented academic work experience as a post-doctoral researcher outside of Austria.
- possesses a proven interest in the areas of International Business / Global Strategy
- possesses very strong quantitative skills (e.g. econometrics, data science) and an inter-est in applying these skills in the context of high quality academic research in the field of Inter-national Business and International Management
- should be on his or her way to establish an international reputation as a researcher
- should be be well connected in the international academic community of International Business/ Global Strategy experts.
- has a track record of publications in peer reviewed international journals (the minimum requirement is to have published one B-level publication according to FT50, Jourqual, or ABS)

As the candidate is expected to take over teaching responsibilities in WU’s new master program “Digital Economy”, teaching experience at the intersection of Digital Economy and International Business is welcome.

- You are encouraged to profit from Prof. Nell’s international network of scholars who cooperate with the team. For example, a research semester abroad at a top university is facilitated and expected. Previous PhD students have stayed at the universities of INSEAD, Villanova, Michigan, and Stanford.
- You will participate actively in international conferences and present and discuss your research with scholars around the world
- To some limited extent, you will support other teaching and/or administrative activities at the institute

Your profile
- A Master’s degree in business, economics, or psychology. If you already have a PhD in Business or Economics you cannot be considered for this position.
- Good grades in the Bachelor as well as Master’s degree.
