Position at IIB, other positions and academic career
Jan joined the Institute for International Business as a Research and Teaching Associate/PhD Student in September 2016. He is a CEMS graduate from Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) and University of Sydney. Before that, he completed a dual study program and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from Hochschule Ludwigshafen. As part of his Bachelor’s degree, Jan joined BASF for three years and worked in a variety of business areas both in Germany and Chile. During his Master’s studies, he completed two consulting internships with A.T. Kearney as well as Horváth & Partners and did several consulting projects for multinational corporations as part of his studies. In his leisure time, he likes travelling, motorsports, table tennis and badminton.
Jan’s research interests are centered on the role headquarters play in large organizations and how they interact with subsidiaries, among others. Furthermore, he is interested in analytics as well as digitization and in how they influence the multinational headquarters-subsidiary relationships.
