Jan Hendrik Fisch is a Pro­fessor of In­ter­na­tional Busi­ness at Vi­enna Uni­versity of Eco­nom­ics and Busi­ness (WU Wien), Vi­enna/Aus­tria, and a Re­search Fel­low at Uni­versity of Waikato, Hamilton/New Zeal­and. He holds a PhD in Eco­nom­ics from Uni­versity of Ho­hen­heim, Stut­tgart/Ger­many, and a de­gree in Elec­tron­ics and Busi­ness from Tech­nical Uni­versity of Darm­stadt, Darm­stadt/Ger­many.

Be­fore join­ing WU in 2013, he was a Pro­fessor of In­nov­a­tion and In­ter­na­tional Man­age­ment at Uni­versity of Augs­burg, Augs­burg/Ger­many, Pro­fessor of Tech­no­logy and In­nov­a­tion Man­age­ment at Zep­pelin Uni­versity, Friedrich­shafen/Ger­many, and Assist­ant Pro­fessor at Uni­versity of Ho­hen­heim, Stut­tgart/Ger­many. He de­clined an ap­point­ment as a Pro­fessor of In­nov­a­tion Man­age­ment at Uni­versity of Duis­bur­g-Essen, Duis­burg/Ger­many. From 2012 to 2017, he was a Con­joint Pro­fessor at Uni­versity of New­castle, Callaghan/NSW, Aus­tralia.

At WU, he is Head of the De­part­ment of Global Busi­ness and Trade and Aca­demic Dir­ector of the study pro­gram Mas­ter in In­ter­na­tional Man­age­ment/CEMS. In 2015, WU won the “CEMS School of the Year Award” for the be­st-e­valu­ated pro­gram of the net­work of CEMS Uni­versit­ies in 29 coun­tries. In 2016, CEMS at WU for the first time reached a top-ten pos­i­tion in the Fin­an­cial Times Rank­ing of “Mas­ters in Man­age­ment”.

Re­search in­terest

His re­search cen­ters on Strategy and Or­gan­iz­a­tion in the fields of In­nov­a­tion Man­age­ment and In­ter­na­tional Busi­ness. Pub­lic­a­tions in­clude articles in Journal of In­ter­na­tional Busi­ness Stud­ies, Journal of Pro­duct In­nov­a­tion Man­age­ment, Re­search Policy, and Stra­tegic Man­age­ment Journal.
