Pos­i­tion at IIB, other pos­i­tions and aca­demic ca­reer

Igor Fil­atotchev is a Pro­fessor of In­ter­na­tional Busi­ness. He is also a Pro­fessor of Cor­por­ate Gov­ernance and Strategy at Cass Busi­ness School, City Uni­versity Lon­don where he dir­ects the Centre for Re­search on Cor­por­ate Gov­ernance. He held vari­ous aca­demic pos­i­tions at Not­ting­ham Uni­versity Busi­ness School, Brad­ford Uni­versity School of Man­age­ment, King's Col­lege and Birk­beck Col­lege (Uni­versity of Lon­don). He earned his PhD in Eco­nom­ics from the In­sti­tute of World Economy and In­ter­na­tional Re­la­tions (Mo­scow, the Rus­sian Fed­er­a­tion). He is an As­so­ci­ate Ed­itor of Cor­por­ate Gov­ernance: An In­ter­na­tional Re­view and Journal of Man­age­ment and Gov­ernance.

Re­search in­terest

Igor's re­search in­terests are fo­cused on a fast grow­ing area in the man­age­ment and eco­nom­ics lit­er­at­ure re­lat­ing to cor­por­ate gov­ernance ef­fects on en­tre­pren­eur­ship devel­op­ment, stra­tegic de­cisions and or­gan­isa­tional change. Key re­search pro­grammes cur­rently in pro­gress in­clude ana­lysis of re­source and strategy roles of cor­por­ate gov­ernance; cor­por­ate gov­ernance life-­cycle; and a know­ledge-­based view on gov­ernance devel­op­ment in en­tre­pren­eur­ial firms and IPOs. These pro­jects were sup­por­ted by re­search grants from vari­ous na­tional and in­ter­na­tional donors, in­clud­ing Eco­nomic and So­cial Re­search Coun­cil, the UK De­part­ment of Trade and In­dustry, Lever­hulme Trust, In­sti­tute of Chartered Ac­count­ants of England and Wales and the European Com­mis­sion. He has pub­lished more than 120 journal articles, books and book chapters in the fields of cor­por­ate gov­ernance and strategy in lead­ing aca­demic journ­als such as Academy of Man­age­ment Journal, Academy of Man­age­ment Per­spect­ives, Stra­tegic Man­age­ment Journal, Or­gan­iz­a­tion Science, Journal of Man­age­ment, Journal of In­ter­na­tional Busi­ness Stud­ies, Cali­for­nia Man­age­ment Re­view, Journal of Man­age­ment Stud­ies and Journal of Busi­ness Ven­tur­ing.
