Karl Brindlmayer is a research and teaching associate at the Institute for International Business. He completed the Master's program in Economics with a mathematics major at WU Vienna. Furthermore, he holds a Master's degree in International Wine Marketing from University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. Before that, Karl earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at WU Vienna, with specializations in SME Management, Accounting, and Tax Law.
He gained extensive practical experience in his parents' winery and with several firms in the wine industry in Austria and Italy. Amongst others, he got involved with creating and leading cooperatives. In addition, his professional experience includes working for Raiffeisen Research at Raiffeisen Bank International AG for more than two years, focussing on Quant Research and Emerging Markets. Karl joined the Institute for International Business in February 2014 and was awarded the WU's prize for “innovative teaching” (Course “Global Markets – Industry Evolution and Firm Strategy”; seminar IB markets, course IV in “International Business” specialization) in 2018.
Karl´s research interest centers on international management. In particular, his current projects focus on analyzing market entries from an information economic as well as dynamic capabilities perspective.
