Hermann Frank is director of the Research Institute for Family Business and assistant director of the Institute for Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Furthermore, he is visiting professor at the Witten Institute for Family Business, University Witten/Herdecke (Germany). After his habilitation he was invited for the entrepreneurship professorship at the University of Dortmund/Germany and first choice for the professorship for Innovation Management at the University for Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. Hermann Frank was visiting professor in 1996 at the University of Halmstad in Sweden, as well as in 2000 at the University of Udine in Italy. From 2000 to 2006 he taught Entrepreneurship at the “Donauuniversität Krems” (MBA). Additionally, Hermann Frank gained practical experience in the textile industry and he still intensively exchanges experiences with practitioners, mainly from leading Austrian family businesses. He is associate editor of the Journal of Small Business Management and member of the editorial boards of Entrepreneurship and Regional Development and the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development. Since winterterm 12/13 he is visiting professor for Family Business Management at Private University Witten/Herdecke, Germany.
Hermann Frank received the Rudolf Sallinger Award for his research and numerous journal publications were given awards by WU Vienna.
