Hendrik Theine is a broadly trained critical social scientist using approaches and methods from critical communication studies, ecological economics and political economy. Most recently, his research focusses on media discourses covering economic inequality, the taxation of inheritances and wealth, as well as the climate crisis and the resulting need for social ecological transformation. He is dedicated to advancing knowledge as well as training and mentoring the next generation of critical students.

Hendrik Theine is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in Austria and a visiting scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication, Media, Inequality & Change Center (MIC) during the fall term 2022.
