WU Professor Ingrid Kubin appointed WIFO vice president
WU is pleased to announce that WU Professor Ingrid Kubin, chair of the Department of Economics and head of the Institute for International Economics and Development, has been appointed vice president of WIFO, the Austrian Institute of Economic Research.
On May 18, 2017, Ingrid Kubin was unanimously elected new WIFO vice president at the WIFO General Meeting. WIFO is a private, nonprofit association. The Governing Board acts as WIFO’s supervisory authority. Pursuant to the WIFO by-laws, the Governing Board is headed by a president and two vice presidents, one of which must be a professor of economics. As new vice president, Ingrid Kubin replaces Christoph Badelt, who was appointed WIFO director last fall.
About Ingrid Kubin
Ingrid Kubin studied economics and law at the universities of Linz and Graz. She started her academic career as a teaching and research associate and assistant professor at the University of Graz, Institute of Economics. In 1990, she obtained her venia docendi (habilitation degree) in economics from the University of Graz. From 1993 to 2002, Ingrid Kubin worked as a professor of theoretical economics at the University of Mainz. In 2002, she became professor of international economics at WU, where she has been heading the Institute for International Economics and Development. In 2012, Kubin was also appointed chair of WU’s Department of Economics. She was a visiting professor at the University of Paris III in 1995 and Dalian University, China, in 1999. In addition, she completed a number of research stays in the UK and Italy. Kubin’s main research interests are international and regional economic relations and dynamic economic theory. Ingrid Kubin is also president of the Austrian Economic Association (NOeG) for the 2017/18 term.
