Hanappi-Egger received a prize in recognition of her lifetime achievements

The Käthe Leichter State Award (site in German) for women’s studies, gender studies, and equal opportunities at the workplace is awarded to honor outstanding achievements in a number of different areas. Susanne Raab, Austrian minister for women, family, youth, and integration at the Federal Chancellery, presented this year’s awards to the recipients, among them Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger.

Rector Hanappi-Egger received a prize in recognition of her lifetime achievements and her commitment to gender and diversity research. In particular, the award recognizes her academic work, which has contributed to a fuller understanding of diversity management, and her status as a prominent role model. In 2015, Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger became WU Vienna’s first female Rector, and she has headed the institution since then.

Only very recently, in December 2021, she was reelected as a member of the board of Universities Austria (uniko).
