With its innovative approach to decentralized computation and assets management, blockchain technology has the potential to solve many system scalability, reliability, security, and trust issues. But the development of blockchain systems is complex and creates new, intricate systems engineering and cryptoeconomics challenges. In this talk, we present an essential blockchain overview. We discuss the critical requirements and constraints based on our previous research and propose several exciting directions for future research.
