March 29, 2023 Webinar: "Update on Cooperative Compliance" - ONLINE

The WU Global Tax Policy Center at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law, WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is pleased to invite you to the Webinar: “Update on Cooperative Compliance” which is organised in the context of the second phase of our project on Cooperative Compliance. The Webinar will be held online on March 29, 2023, at 13:00 CET.

Our project on Cooperative Compliance aims at shedding light on the legal, administrative, and political constraints to encourage countries to introduce a legal framework promoting a relationship between tax administrations and MNEs that is based on trust, openness, and constructive dialogue. Our focus now is on the possibility of developing a multilateral Cooperative Compliance framework that would enhance tax certainty on cross-border transactions involving MNEs and multiple tax administrations.

This event will explore the progress made by countries implementing Cooperative Compliance since the publication in 2021 of the Handbook on Cooperative Compliance: A Multi-stakeholder and Sustainable Approach to Taxation. It will review ongoing discussions on developing an Assurance Standard on Tax Control Frameworks, the opportunities for a Multilateral project-based approach to Cooperative Compliance, and what we can learn from recent country experiences in measuring the Cost and Benefits of such programs.

Prof. Jeffrey Owens, Jonathan Leigh-Pemberton, Daniel Dallhammer, and Timoleon Christodoulopoulos from our Institute, as well as Prof. Irene Burgers from the University of Groningen, Rachel Craig of Anglo American and Kirsti Piiskoppel of Verohallinto Finland will be discussing matters concerning Tax Control Frameworks, Multilateral Cooperative Compliance and the Cost and Benefits of Cooperative Compliance programs.

Please tune in to this Webinar, which will provide an update on our ongoing work and facilitate dialogue among academics, representatives of the business sector, and tax administrations from all over the world to promote research on the development of a multilateral Cooperative Compliance framework.

We look forward to your participation!
