Swiss-European Mobility Program (exchange semester)

If you are nominated for an exchange place in Switzerland, you can apply for a mobility grant within the framework of the Swiss-European Mobility Program (SEMP).

Application

After your nomination by WU, the partner university will contact you directly by email.

You then have to fill out and sign a declaration of commitment and upload it via the Mobility Online System together with your completed Learning Agreement.

Further information, deadlines, and documents can be found in the Mobility Online System.

Financial information

The grant is provided directly by the respective Swiss university, which is also in charge of managing the administration. This includes payout of the grant and providing additional information.

The grant amounts to CHF 360 per month (approx. €330).

Academic achievment

The stay abroad should not hinder the student’s academic progress (“no loss of progress” principle). According to this principle, you should complete courses worth 30 ECTS credits in your semester spent abroad.

The minimum requirement is lower than that and depends on the respective host university (e.g. St. Gallen: 16 ECTS credits, Zurich 12 ECTS credits).

As proof of academic achievement, students are required to transfer the credits earned abroad to their WU program.

Students with special needs

Students with special needs who have applied for the SEMP grant in due time can also apply for SEMP Special Needs Funding.

For details, please ask your respective host university about this type of additional funding.
