Financial aid (Bachelor & Master)
As WU students, you have many possibilities of receiving financial aid for international mobility. For exchange semesters organized by the International Office, receiving financial aid is always possible. However, also other types of mobility, such as Joint International Summer Universities, international conferences, and moot courts may be funded depending on certain criteria.
- Grants for an exchange semester
- Grants for an internship abroad
- Grants for International Summer University programs
- Grant for participating in an international scientific event
- Other financial aid opportunities
Grants for an exchange semester
When you participate in an exchange semester organized by the International Office, you always have the option to receive financial aid. Depending on the destination, this is usually an Erasmus+ grant or a Joint-Study grant (or, in the case of Switzerland, a grant within the Swiss-European Mobility Program). These grants are designed to provide financial support, but will usually not cover all the costs for your exchange stay.
For certain partner universities, larger grant amounts are available in the form of a CEEPUS grant or an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility grant. In some cases, these grants can cover the entire cost of an exchange stay and can be obtained instead of, but not in addition to, a Joint-Study or regular Erasmus+ grant.
The application for all grants mentioned above takes place after you have been nominated for an exchange spot. More information on each of the grants, such as grant amounts, minimum requirements, and availability for specific universities can be found below:
Joint Study grants for exchange stays at partner universities overseas, in Russia, Montenegro, and Ukraine
Erasmus+ grants for exchange stays in the 27 EU member states plus Great Britain, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey
Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility grants: substantial grants at designated partner universities
Swiss-European Mobility Program (SEMP) for exchange stays in Switzerland
CEEPUS grants for exchange stays at a CEEPUS partner university (selected partner universities in Central and Eastern Europe)
Grants for an internship abroad
You can also apply for an Erasmus+ internship grant. Erasmus+ internships can be completed in one of the 27 EU member states, Great Britain, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.
Grants for International Summer University programs
Five grants are available for every Joint International Summer University program (Joint ISU) organized by WU. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the International Summer University website.
Grant for participating in an international scientific event
The Prof. Ewald Nowotny Mobility Grants could be an option for you, if you are taking part in international scientific events in order to further your academic skills and gain experience in the scientific community. Funding is available, for instance, for presenting research projects or theses/dissertations at international academic conferences, or for attending moot courts or case competitions.
