IBW - Internship Abroad
Information for students enrolled in BaWiSo 19 (valid from October 1, 2021)
By successfully completing an internship abroad, you have the possibility to fulfill the IBW international experience. An internship seminar must be completed alongside the internship.
What are the criteria that an internship abroad must meet?
The internship abroad must take place outside of Austria. In addition, it cannot be completed in the country of the student's citizenship.
A minimum duration of 6 weeks without interruption and a study-related full-time activity is required. It is recommended that the internship is completed during the summer months.
1 ECTS credit is awarded for each week of the internship. A maximum of 8 ECTS credits is possible for internships abroad which last longer than 6 weeks. For students who have successfully completed an internship abroad, the amount of credits for free electives is reduced to the extent of the allocated internship ECTS credits.
Required academic performance:
The "Internship Seminar" (4 ECTS credits) must be taken along with the internship abroad. The Internship Seminar is completed as part of the "International Elective". Prior to the internship, you have to participate in a kick-off meeting and you have to obtain a pre-approval of the internship. The form for the pre-approval of the internship as well as further details can be found here.
Upon successful completion of the Internship Seminar in winter semester, the international experience is also considered successfully completed.
For further details, please refer to the Internship Seminar website.
