The Summer of 2020 on Campus WU
You can use the study areas and independent study zones again as of July 1 during the general building opening hours (Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.). To ensure compliance with the prescribed minimum safety distance, the number of available seats is reduced, however.
Until the end of September, the Study Service Center (SSC) will offer its various services at specific times, in some cases only upon appointment. This applies e.g. to advisory services related to need-based scholarship grants and the submission of applications, student admission/re-registration, the issuing of student ID cards, and the collection of graduation documents. Up-to-date information about the current opening hours and contacts is available on the SSC webpage.
The International Office is also available to you again – for more information, please see the IO webpage.
The Central Library (including the Language Resource Center), the Library for Law, and the Library for Social Sciences will open for studying again as of August 3, but the number of people that can be admitted to the libraries will be limited. Please note that it will be necessary to reserve a seat in advance. The lending service for borrowing books is still in place, but it will be temporarily unavailable during the library break from July 20 to 31. For detailed information, please see the WU University Library website.
The PC practice labs in the LC building will be available again starting on August 3, exclusively during summer break opening hours. The PC practice labs in the TC building will remain closed for the time being.
A limited number of project rooms (listed in ROOMS) will be available to you again starting September 1, 2020. We expect that booking project rooms as usual will be possible again when the winter semester starts (October 1, 2020).
Current surveys on teaching and distance learning are available in the pop-up box on LEARN. Your feedback helps us to implement adjustments and improvements on a regular basis. Thanks for letting us know what you think and for helping us to improve studying conditions for the coming semesters!
A summary of key news and information regarding student and campus life during the COVID-19 situation is available on this web page.
Do you have any further questions? Please don’t hesitate to contact the WU Student Support team (email@example.com). If you are an exchange student, please contact WU’s International Office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Finally, we’d like to remind you to be mindful and responsible in dealing with the current situation. We wish you a great summer!
Online Course Offer at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Winter Wemester 2020/21: Gain International Experience From Home
Would you like to gain international experience without leaving home? Then the CBS-HSG-WU Online Course Initiative might be just right for you! Together with our partner universities Copenhagen Business School and the University of St. Gallen, we are launching an online course initiative in winter semester 2020/21.
Each institution offers a range of online courses (Bachelor and Master level) in different areas that are open to a limited number of students from all three universities. You will thus be part of an international classroom, can benefit from intercultural learning opportunities and are able to exchange ideas with students from different countries. You can study remotely, which allows you to combine these courses with your courses at WU.
If that is something for you, you can apply between July 1 and July 21, 2020. Here you can find further information on the application, course offer and credit transfer opportunities.

Reopening of the Language Resource Center
From August 3, 2020, the Language Resource Center will be open again. As the number of places will be limited, please make a reservation beforehand through the system of the main library if you want to come to the Language Resource Center.
Borrowing books and language learning material is still possible via email@example.com. You will not need a reservation for collecting reserved books. Do not hesitate to contact us via email for information on borrowing books or on specific materials.
Language courses in the 2020/21 winter semester

Studying in the WU Library and Services for Students
Do you want to be able to use the library as a place for independent work and studying again? Starting August 3, 2020, all three library branches will again be open for studying for a limited number of users. Seat reservations are required. Reservations can be made up to seven days in advance.
If you only need to borrow books, please use our lending service (exception: no books can be borrowed during the library maintenance period from July 20 to 31, 2020). If you’re not in Vienna, you can request scans of excerpts from books or journal articles using our scanning service.
Books currently on loan that have been automatically extended since March are due on July 13, 2020. If you still need these books, please extend the loan period yourself using your library account. Starting in July 2020, books can be returned during the LC building opening hours.
If you have general questions or concerns, feel free to contact us using our info chat service through July. Starting in August, the Library Information desk staff will be back to answer your questions in person (Mondays to Fridays, 10:00 a.m. - noon and 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.). For more advanced questions on literature research or reference management software, our Research Consultation team will be happy to help you.
