Update on COVID-19 Measures at WU

[Translate to English:] Studium

On November 19, 2021, Margarethe Rammerstorfer (WU's Vice-Rector for Academic Programs and Student Affairs) e-mailed you an update on the new safety measures at WU. These measures are valid until the end of the Christmas break on January 9, 2021.

In the following, you find a summary of the most significant measures on campus:

  • Between November 22, 2021 and January 09, 2022, all courses are taught remotely.

  • Exams are held online or on campus. If necessary, your lecturer/the person responsible for the exam will provide further information.

  • WU's libraries will be open for studying but requires reserving a seat in advance. Further details are available on the website of WU Library.

  • Study areas and project rooms (outside the libraries), student lounges, and PC labs will remain closed.

  • A valid 2,5G proof must be presented to enter and/or spend time in a WU building. In addition, wearing a FFP2-mask is mandatory in all WU campus buildings.

  • WU's service units and departments have irregular opening hours during this period. Please, kindly e-mail them to make an appointment if needed.

  • WU's Student Counselling team website named Counselling@home posted helpful information and tips. Further, they offer online coaching sessions to support you during this challenging time.

As usual, you will find all related information and updates on our website.

Re-Registration Deadlines Summer Semester 2022

[Translate to English:] Studium

To continue your studies and remain enrolled at WU, you have to re-register every semester. To do so, please pay the applicable tuition fees/ÖH dues during the admission and re-registration period (January 10, 2022 - February 5, 2022).

If you only pay your fees during the subsequent extended admission period ending on April 30, 2022, your tuition fees will go up by 10 %. If you do not re-register by the relevant deadline, you will be un-enrolled and you will no longer be able to take any exams.

Payment options: We recommend that you use online banking for paying your fees.

Breathe to relax - Workshop

[Translate to English:] Tipps

Online Workshop, 7 December 2021, 3:00 – 5:00 PM - Your breath and stress level are directly connected. This means that through conscious breathing you can strengthen your resilience in stressful, emotional and unpredictable times.

In this two-hour online workshop (that will be held in English), you will learn powerful breathing techniques that can support you to stay present and calm in stressful situations and to use your resources efficiently.

You will receive some food for thought on how stress/uncertainty and breathing are connected and you will have the opportunity to find out for yourself which breathing technique is most suitable for your situation.

We will mainly focus on Coherent Breathing. This breathwork approach strengthens the parasympathetic nervous system that plays a vital role in your ability to be calm, to rest and to be creative.

Moreover, we will together practice 2-3 additional breathing techniques that can also help you shift out of a stressed state or strengthen your ability to stay centered.

The workshop will be held in English.

Register for workshop here.

The Student Counselling Team also offers talks, workshops and peer groups on different subjects. You can find all events on their website.

Reference management

[Translate to English:] Tipps

Reference management programs support you in organising the references (citations, bibliography) for your academic work.

In addition to the programs Citavi, Zotero and Juris-M, you can now also use the desktop application EndNote 20. EndNote 20 offers more extensive options than the previously available EndNote Web and you can install it quickly and easily on your private computer. Good to know: You can of course continue to use EndNote Web; however, the citation styles programmed for WU will only be available via the desktop version.

Do you have questions about which reference management program is best suited to your needs? For more information and support, please visit our library workshops on reference management or join us at the search_bar.
