Tuition-free Semesters and Additional Semesters

When calculating the number of tuition-free semesters for degree-program students (does not apply to third-country nationals in possession of a residence permit for students - Aufenthaltsbewilligung Studierende), two extra semesters are added to the standard duration of each curriculum.

Please note: All students are required to pay Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) membership dues.

Calculation of the prescribed duration of studies and the number of permissible additional semesters

The number of semesters completed is indicated by the respective program code (pursuant to § 5[4] of the University Studies Evidence Act [Universitäts-Studienevidenzverordnung, UniStEV], Federal Law Gazette II no. 288/2004 as amended; Federal Law Gazette II no. 161/2011 as amended) assigned to the program curriculum. Semesters completed while enrolled in one program are included in the semester calculation of any new program enrolled. Semesters studied under one curriculum are added together.
