Semester Re-registration / Unenrollment from WU

Re-registration

By paying the tuition fee (if applicable) and the Students' Union (ÖH) dues during the enrollment period or the extended enrollment period, students declare their intention to continue their studies and remain enrolled at the university for another semester. This process is called re-registration.

If you study at two different Austrian universities simultaneously, you need to re-register actively at the university, at which you have not paid your tuition fees. Please be informed that your payment and re-registration will not be reportet automatically at the other university.

See the academic calendar

PLEASE NOTE: If you have not re-registered by the end of the extended enrollment/re-registration period, you will be automatically unenrolled from your degree program. You will NOT be able to take any further examinations, submit credit transfer applications, etc.

Re-Registration Process

a) Re-registration at a self-service terminal

The Admissions office recommends using the self-service terminals to pay tuition fees and/or Students' Union (ÖH) dues. The self-service terminals are located right outside the Study Service Center (building LC, level 2). All you need to pay your tuition fees and/or Students' Union (ÖH) dues is your student ID card (chip card) and an ATM card (Bankomatkarte).

Once you have authorized payment of the tuition fees and/or Students' Union (ÖH) dues, you can print out your enrollment information sheet and the confirmation of current enrollment status on the self-service printer and renew your student ID card.

The self-service terminals CANNOT be used to re-register for the Vienna University Preparation Program.

b) Online payment

If you would like to use online banking to pay your tuition, please click here for all the relevant information (account number, bank code, customer data (Kundendaten etc.).

PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to enter the customer data (Kundendaten) number in the appropriate field in the online bank transfer form, otherwise your payment cannot be attributed to you.

PLEASE NOTE: Re-registration by online banking does not take effect until the Admissions Office has been notified of receipt of your payment by the BRZ (Bundesrechenzentrum). Please be aware that this process (transfer - bank - BRZ - Admissions) will take longer than re-registration at a self-service terminal and plan accordingly. Once the BRZ has confirmed receipt of your payment, you can print out your enrollment information sheet and the confirmation of current enrollment status on the self-service printer and renew your student ID card.

c) If you have already re-registered at another Austrian university

If you have already re-registered with a different Austrian University, please use one of the self-service terminals or the Online Services menu to re-register at WU. Please note that you are not automatically re-registered at WU if you have re-registered at another university. In case you have to pay the tuition fee at one of the universities you are enrolled at, you have to pay the entire amount at this university. The students´union fee will then be reportet as paid to the other universitity. However, please remeber that you additionally have to re-register actively as described above. Please do not pay the tuition fee at one university and the students´s union fee at another one, your re-registation will not be carried out successfully in this case.

Terminating Your Studies at WU

Students who leave WU before completing their degree program need to obtain an unenrollment confirmation from Admissions. Please bring your student ID card with you when unenrolling.

If you have any further questions concerning re-registration and unenrollment, please contact the Admissions staff.
