Details on the structure and contents, how the exam will be conducted, the rules that apply, and any authorized aids that are permitted, etc. will be provided to you via the usual communication channel for the respective course.

ATTENTION:

Please be sure to familiarize yourself with the technical requirements in good time!

It is your own personal responsibility to make sure ahead of time that you have the technical equipment necessary for taking an online exam. If you lack a piece of equipment, ask your fellow students, friends, or family members if they can lend it to you, and don’t forget to test your equipment prior to the exam.

Exam reviewYou have the right to view your corrected exams within a period of 6 months. However, direct exam review via the “Exam review” link on MyLEARN is not available for online exams. Depending on the exam format and design, there are different exam review options. Please contact your course instructor/the person responsible for the exam for further information.
Examination attemptOnce you have confirmed the examination statement (this is possible 15 or 30 minutes before the start of the exam), the examination attempt is counted, even if you don’t go on to take the exam after confirming the statement.
The examination attempt will also be counted if you terminate the exam prematurely or fail to submit the exam.
For exceptions to this rule, please see under “technical problems”.
Examination statementBy confirming the examination statement, you declare that you have understood and acknowledge all the necessary information for taking the written online exam in question, that you fulfill all requirements for taking the exam, and that you will complete the exam independently and without any unauthorized aids.
Only if you have confirmed the examination statement, you can start the exam.
Examinations by a panelThe procedures for conducting and signing up for examinations by a panel are identical to those that apply for regular exams. The only difference is that such exams are graded by a panel of examiners. Further information ...
GradingThe exam will be graded if the following requirements are met:
  • You have uploaded a photo that fulfills the necessary criteria to confirm your identity (if required)
  • The recordings can be fully evaluated for the entire duration of the exam as part of automated online supervision (if required)
  • You have accepted the examination statement
If you have taken an exam without completing the procedures for establishing your identity (if required), the exam will be declared “VOID” and you will lose an exam attempt.
If you have not confirmed the examination statement, the exam will not be graded and the exam attempt will not be counted (= as if you hadn’t been present for the exam).

Pre-Check
Online-Supervision
The Pre-Check Online-Supervision is obligatory for exams with online exam supervision and guides you through all necessary settings (access to camera and microphone, sharing of screen and examination statement). At the same time the functionality of your equipment is checked and in case of errors possible sources of error are automatically listed. Only if your equipment works perfectly, you will get to the examination statement and thus to the exam.
Premature termination of an exam / failure to submit the examOnce you have confirmed the examination statement (this is possible 15 or 30 minutes before the start of the exam), the examination attempt is counted, even if you don’t go on to actually take the exam after confirming the statement.
The examination attempt will also be counted if you terminate the exam prematurely or fail to submit the exam.
For exceptions to this rule, please see under “technical problems”.
Premature termination of an exam by WUIf WU is forced to abort an exam, the exam will be repeated. All requirements for taking the exam must be fulfilled again for the repeat exam and the exam must be retaken in full.
Preparation timeIn a written online exam in an exam environment, the preparation time begins 30 minutes before the start of the exam. During this period, you have time to go through the Pre-Check Online-Supervision | to confirm the examination statement and check your technical setup. Please take advantage of this preparation time to make sure you’re all set and ready for the exam.
When taking an exam in a course environment, you should be able to confirm the examination statement 15 minutes before the start of the exam.
Preview imageDuring written online exams with online supervision, you can see that your camera and microphone are recording (preview image shows microphone-camera-screen centered at the top of the screen).
Questions during the examAny communication between you and the course instructor, the person responsible for the exam, or the proctor must take place via the previously designated communication channel.
Your course instructors/the persons responsible for the exam will provide you with further information.
Regulations that apply
Repeating a positively graded examIt is possible to repeat an exam for which you received a positive grade in an online format within a period of 12 months. Further information ...
Results | gradingThe grading period can vary depending on the exam in question. In any case, the examination reports should all be completed within 4 weeks of the exam date. As soon as the examination report is ready, your grade will be shown on your transcript. You can view your grade directly in the corresponding assignment section, in the MyLEARN gradebook, or on LPIS.
Signing upYou can sign up for and drop course examinations (LVP) via the LPIS system during the registration period.
You don’t have to sign up for specific exams in continuous assessment courses (PI) or lectures with interactive elements (VUE) because if you have signed up for such courses, you are automatically signed up for all exams held as part of these courses as well.
