Online (synchronous)

In an online course, all scheduled contact hours take place synchronous online. All participants are expected to attend the course online on the announced dates.

Unlike other course delivery formats, students in the "online" format rely on the fact that this course can be attended regardless of location. Therefore, no online course can be held in any other format. The performance assessment should also take place location-independent for students.

However, if the assessment is not possible only with off-campus methods, a final examination can take place on-campus, but further performance components cannot. Furthermore, there is no possibility of an on-campus exam if the course is part of an international online exchange program of WU (e.g. SIGMA, ENGAGE.EU, ECOL) or if participants cannot reasonably be expected to take an on-campus examination at the WU for similar reasons. In any case, an on-campus exam has to be clearly communicated to the students in the syllabus before the beginning of the semester and it has to be specifically mentioned during the course.
