After a few years of interruption, the OeAD is again launching a Sparkling Science call on behalf of the BMBWF. Sparkling Science 2.0 is broader and offers additional funding for "International Networking" and "Science in Schools" More information

Sparkling Science 2.0 (ÖAD - BMBWF) (Deadline: 09 November 2021)
With "Sparkling Science 2.0", the OeAD, on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), promotes research projects in which research and educational institutions and, where possible, members of the civil society cooperate and jointly contribute to the generation of innovative research results. More information

Elise Richter Programme (FWF) (Deadline: 10 December 2021)
The Elise Richter Programme for senior postdocs has been designed as a specific funding measure for women in science and research. Target group:Highly qualified female scientists and scholars of any discipline, who strive for an university career.
Goals: to support the academic career of highly qualified female scientists and scholars and to enhance their university career; after completion of the program a level of qualification should be accomplished which enables participants to apply for a local or abroad professorship. ("Habilitation" or equal qualification). More information

Talente - 8th call for FEMtech research projects (FFG) (Deadline: 13.12.2021)
A total of EUR 2.7 million is available for the 8th call of the FEMtech initiative. Fundable projects must be gender-relevant. In 2021, the funder will focus on climate and the environment (approx. € 1.3 million for gender-relevant projects in RTI with a focus on climate and on the environment). The funding is up to a maximum of EUR 300,000. In order to be able to implement a FEMtech research project, the project team must have basic gender competence and gender expertise must be integrated over the entire course of the project. Co-Creation-Spaces Climate and Energy (FFG) (Deadline: 1.March.2022)
The Climate and Energy Fund is issuing a new funding format for modern learning and educational spaces in the field of climate and energy. The maximum funding per project is EUR 325,000 for a period of 3 to 4 years. More information

Austrian Climate Research Program 2021 (Climate and Energy Fund) (Deadline: January 28, 2022)
A total of € 5 million will be available for this funding program in 2021. Furthermore, an APCC Assessment Report on Climate Change in Austria will be called. Research projects that deal with aspects of climate change, its effects in Austria and possible adaptation measures are funded. More information

International Communication (ÖFG) (Deadlines: 03 October 2021, 07 November 2021)
The research funding scheme “International Communication” of the Austrian Research Association represents an addition to the financial support options of the universities and other project funding institutions. This research funding scheme provides funding for trips abroad and will give guest researchers the opportunity to come to Austria. The funding is aimed at junior researchers demonstrating academic excellence, who have been unable to receive sufficient funding from other institutions either on formal grounds or due to a shortage of resources. The objective is to generate research data as part of an independent research project. More information

FESTO Fellow (deadline: 10 December 2021)
Festo GmbH is the European market leader in automation technology, and employs over 10,000 people around the world. Festo already began making business contacts in the CEE region in the 1960s, back when automation technology was still in its earliest stages. Since then, Festo has become a respected partner of many CEE companies, and the Vienna location is the hub for all of its CEE activities. Today, Festo is highly successful in the entire CEE region, defined as Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Objectives of this funding are: providing support for a research project in a CEE country, publication of results in an academic journal, a research stay at one of the CEE partner universities. Bonus to cover caretaking costs during business travel
WU has launched an initiative to provide additional support to our researchers with caretaking responsibilities. Researchers should not have to limit their international network building activities, which are such a key factor for academic success, because of caretaking responsibilities. Caretaking responsibilities include not only childcare, but also the care of spouses or partners in need of constant care or the care of elderly parents or grandparents. More Information

    Fulbright Visiting Professor at the University of Minnesota (Deadline: 30 October 2021)
    Austrian citizens are eligible to apply. Applications from qualified junior as well as senior faculty from all accredited universities and post-secondary institutions are welcome. More Information

    Fulbright Grants for Teaching, Research, Career Development, or Institutional Collaboration (Deadline: 30 October 2021)
    These grants allow highly qualified academics affiliated with Austrian institutions to visit US host institutions for a minimum of three and a maximum of four months for the purpose of teaching, research, career development, or institutional collaboration. More Information

    Klaus-Liebscher-Economic-Research-Scholarship (Deadline: 31 October 2021)
    This scholarship program gives outstanding researchers the opportunity to contribute their expertise to the research activities of the OeNB’s Economic Analysis and Research Department. This contribution will take the form of remunerated consultancy services. More Information

    Forschungspreis Integration (Österreichischer Integrationsfonds) (Deadline: 30 November 2021)
    The Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) awards bachelor, diploma/master, and doctoral theses in the area of the integration of migrants and refugees. More Information (only in German)

    Förderpreis der List Unternehmensgruppe zur Verbesserung der innerstädtischen Verkehrs- und Parkraumsituation (Deadline: 15 December 2021)
